Lennox does not stock parts and compromises warranties.
Three years ago we purchased the very highest end heat pumps from Lennox. We wanted worry-free heating and cooling, and were promised that we were buying the best product with the best warranty.
Now one of the units has a broken expansnion valve. The part is covered under warranty, but we now are told that labor is not. It will cost $700 to replace the part...when it is available. It is backordered for three weeks.
It is in the mid 90s every day in South Carolina.
Yesterday it reached 94 degrees in our upstairs bedroom. We are extremely disappointed.
Monetary Loss: $700.
Location: Easley, South Carolina

We also have had 3 of 4 expansion valves go on TWO heat-pumps from Lennox in 3 years. It's a known problem and Lennox chooses to ignore that and only cover the parts.
The installers have to charge labor as Lennox won't compensate them. I tried to send an email to Lennox but they have not support email at all. I am writing a letter now. They have a known serious problem with their product and won't make it right.
A recall on the expansion valves would be appropriate but, instead, they let them fail.
So far I'm out over $1000 in labor. Won't buy Lennox again unless they cover my labor costs.
here is the email address of the VP of Lennox in Texas...mike.Hart@***.com
I bought a lennox heat pump less then 3 years ago and it sounds like the same problem with mine, we are talking $800 to have it fixed, don't buy lennox folks.

It sounds like the issue is with your contractor. They are responsible for stoking parts and are choosing to charge for labor. Your only problem with Lennox is the expansion valve.
No hvac contractor can keep on hand every part he could possible need to fix every air conditioner. That is what the supply houses are for.
However, if i had a customer with a bad txv with a 3 week delay. I would have installed a piston. Same thing for anyone with more than 1 txv failure on a evap. Lennox seriously has the worst warranty system.
They also charge 3 times the price for just about every part they sell us contractors out of warranty. That means if you have a lennox out of warranty you will pay the cost difference. In houston they have a part house with literally mountains of damaged or defective units in the back .
Google map it 9715 Bent Oak Dr
Houston, TX 77040 the pile of units is 3 times the size now as it is in the google earth pictures. I have never seen anything like it.
Houston HVAC you have got to be a one trucker to say Lennox charges 3 times the price to their contractors. As a Premier Dealer I pay next to nothing for the values and there is never a valve on back order.
And everyone should know it is not Lennox it is the Parker valves most manufactures use and when you go from R22 to 410A without changing a line set the valve is going to gum up and fail. It is not rocket science if you choose a contractor who knows what their doing.
